Chemical Peel Aftercare Advice
Haus of Ästhetik Patient Information

Thank you for attending your chemical peel treatment today.

Chemical peels work by carefully removing damaged outer layers of skin to stimulate renewal and improve concerns such as pigmentation, acne, scarring, dullness, and signs of ageing.

mesoestetic professional and MD peels are medical-grade treatments designed to encourage controlled skin regeneration. Following the correct aftercare is essential to allow your skin to heal safely and achieve the best results.

---

## What You May Experience After Treatment

Skin reactions vary depending on the type and strength of peel performed.

Common and expected reactions include:

- Redness similar to mild sunburn
- Skin tightness
- Warm or tingling sensation
- Dryness
- Peeling or flaking skin (usually from day 2 to 5)

With MD or deeper corrective peels you may also notice:

- More visible peeling
- Mild swelling
- Temporary darkening of pigmentation before improvement

This is a normal part of the renewal process.

Please do not pick or pull peeling skin.

---

## The First 24 Hours

Your skin is more sensitive immediately after treatment.

Please:

✓ Keep the skin clean
✓ Avoid touching or rubbing treated areas
✓ Wash hands before applying skincare
✓ Follow only clinic recommended products

Avoid:

- Makeup
- Exercise causing heavy sweating
- Heat exposure
- Alcohol excess
- Direct sunlight

Your skin may feel warm during this period. This usually settles naturally.

---

## Skincare After Treatment

For several days your skin barrier is temporarily reduced.

Recommended:

- Gentle cleanser advised by the clinic
- mesoestetic post-procedure or melan recovery creams
- Hydrating and repairing serums recommended by your practitioner
- Broad spectrum SPF 50 daily

Skin recovery products help calm inflammation and support barrier repair.

Avoid for 5 to 7 days or until advised:

- Retinol or Vitamin A products
- Exfoliating acids
- Acne treatments containing active ingredients
- Facial brushes or scrubs
- Fragranced skincare products

If unsure about a product at home, please check with the clinic before use.

---

## Peeling Phase (Usually Days 2 to 7)

Peeling may appear as dryness, flaking, or sheet-like shedding depending on treatment depth.

Important advice:

- Do not pick peeling skin
- Keep skin moisturised
- Allow skin to shed naturally

Pulling skin early can lead to irritation or pigmentation changes.

Think of it like removing wallpaper before the paste has loosened properly. It rarely ends well.

---

## Sun Protection

Sun protection is extremely important following chemical peels.

Please:

- Apply SPF 50 every morning
- Reapply during daylight exposure
- Avoid sunbeds
- Avoid prolonged sun exposure for at least 2 weeks

Failure to protect skin from sunlight significantly increases pigmentation risk.

---

## Makeup

Makeup can normally be worn again after 24 to 48 hours, provided:

- Skin is comfortable
- No irritation is present
- Clean applicators are used

Mineral makeup is preferred during early healing.

---

## Activities to Avoid During Healing

Avoid for approximately one week:

- Swimming pools or hot tubs
- Saunas or steam rooms
- Waxing or hair removal creams
- Laser or additional skin treatments
- Gym environments causing heavy sweating during early recovery

Your skin is actively regenerating during this time.

---

## When to Contact the Clinic

Please contact Haus of Ästhetik if you notice:

- Increasing pain or burning sensation
- Severe swelling
- Blistering
- Signs of infection
- Persistent redness beyond expected healing
- Cold sore outbreak

Prompt advice allows early treatment if required.

---

## Results and Follow Up

Skin renewal develops gradually.

Typical improvements include:

- Brighter skin appearance within 1 to 2 weeks
- Pigmentation improvement over several treatments
- Ongoing collagen stimulation over several weeks

Treatment courses are often recommended for optimal results.

Your follow up plan will have been discussed during consultation.

PDO Thread Treatment Aftercare Advice

Haus of Ästhetik Patient Information

Thank you for attending your PDO thread treatment today.

PDO (Polydioxanone) threads are medical absorbable sutures placed beneath the skin to improve skin quality, stimulate collagen production, and in some cases provide lifting and structural support.

Mono or screw threads mainly improve skin texture and firmness, whilst COG threads are designed to reposition and support tissue for lifting effects.

Following the aftercare advice below is important to allow the threads to settle correctly and reduce the risk of complications.

What You May Experience After Treatment

The following reactions are normal:

- Mild swelling

- Bruising

- Tenderness or tightness

- Small entry points where threads were inserted

- A pulling or tightening sensation when moving the face

Following COG lifting threads you may also notice:

- Temporary asymmetry during early settling

- Skin puckering or dimpling

- Mild discomfort when chewing or smiling

These effects usually improve over 1 to 2 weeks as tissues settle.

The First 24 to 48 Hours

This is the most important settling period.

Please:

✓ Keep treated areas clean and dry

✓ Avoid touching or massaging the face

✓ Sleep on your back where possible

✓ Keep head slightly elevated when resting

Avoid:

- Makeup for at least 24 hours

- Alcohol

- Smoking where possible (delays healing)

- Exercise

- Excess facial movement

Cooling packs wrapped in a clean cloth may help swelling.

Sleeping Advice (Very Important)

For approximately 7 to 10 days:

- Sleep on your back

- Avoid sleeping on your side or face

- Use extra pillows to prevent rolling during sleep if needed

Pressure on treated areas can affect thread positioning.

Facial Movement Restrictions

For the first 1 to 2 weeks avoid:

- Wide mouth opening

- Excessive chewing

- Dental treatment

- Facial massage

- Aggressive skincare treatments

Try to avoid exaggerated facial expressions during early healing.

In simple terms, allow everything underneath the skin time to anchor properly.

Skincare After Treatment

Recommended:

- Gentle cleansing after 24 hours

- Clinic recommended recovery skincare

- SPF 50 daily once swelling improves

Avoid for approximately 2 weeks:

- Active skincare products

- Retinol

- Chemical exfoliants

- Facial devices or massage tools

Do not massage treated areas unless instructed by your practitioner.

Activities to Avoid

For approximately 2 weeks avoid:

- Gym or strenuous exercise

- Swimming pools or hot tubs

- Saunas or steam rooms

- Facial treatments

- Laser or skin procedures

COG threads particularly require time to integrate with surrounding tissue.

Bruising and Swelling

Bruising may occur and usually settles within 7 to 14 days.

Helpful measures include:

- Sleeping elevated

- Gentle cooling packs

- Avoiding blood thinning supplements unless prescribed medically

When to Contact the Clinic Urgently

Please contact Haus of Ästhetik immediately if you experience:

- Increasing pain rather than improvement

- Significant swelling on one side

- Skin colour changes (pale or dark areas)

- Signs of infection

- Thread visibility or protrusion

- Fever or feeling unwell

Early review allows prompt management if required.

Results and Healing Timeline

You may notice:

- Early lifting effect immediately after treatment

- Improvement as swelling settles over 2 to 4 weeks

- Collagen stimulation continuing for several months

PDO threads naturally dissolve over time whilst collagen support remains.
