Under Eye Bags

Under eye bags, medically referred to as infraorbital puffiness, occur when fat pads beneath the eyes become more prominent, often combined with fluid retention, skin laxity, or shadowing. They can make even the most rested person look tired. While often a normal part of facial ageing, they can also reflect lifestyle factors, genetics, or circulatory changes. At Haus of Ästhetik, we approach this concern holistically, correcting structural causes, improving skin tone, and restoring brightness without erasing your natural character.

Overview

Under eye bags, medically referred to as infraorbital puffiness, occur when fat pads beneath the eyes become more prominent, often combined with fluid retention, skin laxity, or shadowing. They can make even the most rested person look tired. While often a normal part of facial ageing, they can also reflect lifestyle factors, genetics, or circulatory changes. At Haus of Ästhetik, we approach this concern holistically, correcting structural causes, improving skin tone, and restoring brightness without erasing your natural character.

  • Under eye bags can affect both men and women at any age, though they become more common after the mid-thirties. People with fair or thin skin notice them earlier, as do those with strong facial expressiveness or genetic predisposition. They are also more noticeable after fatigue, illness, or excess alcohol.

  • Visible puffiness or bulging beneath the lower eyelids, often with darker pigmentation or hollowing nearby. Skin may appear loose or wrinkled, sometimes accompanied by morning swelling that improves throughout the day. In advanced cases, the fat pad protrusion becomes constant and is accompanied by shadowing or volume loss at the tear trough.

  • Tear trough filler for transition (selected cases), PNs/skin boosters, lymphatic care, topical caffeine/retinoids; refer for blepharoplasty if advanced.
  • At Haus of Ästhetik, we treat under eye bags with precision and a focus on structural rejuvenation rather than “filling for the sake of filling.” Our treatments draw upon medical science, NICE-aligned safety standards, and advanced product technologies from Teoxane and mesoestetic.

    1. Tear Trough Filler (Teoxane RHA 1 or RHA 2)

    • Specially formulated to integrate with the delicate under-eye tissue, restoring lost volume and reducing the appearance of hollows that exaggerate puffiness.

    • Treatment uses micro-cannula techniques for minimal trauma and even distribution.

    • HA filler choice depends on rheology—RHA 1 for fine, mobile skin; RHA 2 for mild to moderate troughs.

    • Fully compliant with MHRA and BNF guidance as a prescription-only medical device used under medical supervision.

    2. mesoestetic periocular peel or mesopeel mandelic

    • Gentle resurfacing to tighten, brighten, and smooth the under-eye area.

    • Reduces pigmentation and fine lines that accentuate bags.

    • Often performed as a course for gradual rejuvenation.

    3. Polynucleotide or Regenerative Biostimulant Therapy

    • Encourages fibroblast activation, collagen, and extracellular matrix repair.

    • Particularly effective for fine crepiness and loss of elasticity.

    4. LED Light Therapy and Lymphatic Drainage Support

    • Promotes microcirculation, reduces inflammation, and helps manage fluid retention.

    • Often combined with aftercare routines using mesoestetic Energy C Eye Contour or Teoxane R[II] Eyes.

  • Suitability is determined following a detailed consultation and medical assessment. We rule out thyroid, renal, and allergy-related causes before aesthetic intervention. Tear trough filler is contraindicated in cases of large herniated fat pads (where surgery may be more appropriate), pregnancy, lactation, or active skin infections. All injectable procedures are undertaken by a qualified Level 7 practitioner under CQC-aligned governance and prescription protocols.

  • Results from filler are typically visible immediately, with full settling over 2–3 weeks and longevity of 9–12 months. Peels and biostimulant therapies show progressive improvements in brightness, texture, and firmness across several sessions. Combined approaches deliver the most natural, refreshed look, less tired, more luminous.

    • Avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol, and heat exposure for 24–48 hours post-injection.

    • Sleep slightly elevated to reduce post-treatment swelling.

    • Apply a gentle, cooling eye gel such as Teoxane R[II] Eyes or mesoestetic Anti-Stress Mask.

    • Maintain hydration, avoid rubbing the area, and protect against UV with mineral SPF.

    • Attend scheduled reviews to monitor results and top-ups at appropriate intervals.

  • Book a confidential consultation at Haus of Ästhetik to assess the cause of your under-eye concerns. We will differentiate between fat herniation, volume loss, pigmentation, or swelling, and create a tailored treatment plan. All procedures are conducted under Regulation 12 of the Health and Social Care Act 2008, Safe Care and Treatment, with full consent, clinical documentation, and aftercare guidance. You will leave with clear recommendations, expected timelines, and a maintenance plan that fits your lifestyle.
