Lip Filler Aftercare Advice
Teoxane Kiss® and Mesoestetic Lips®
Haus of Ästhetik – Patient Information
Thank you for attending your lip enhancement treatment today.
You have been treated with either Teoxane Kiss® or Mesoestetic Lips®, both hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers designed to enhance lip volume, improve shape, and restore hydration.
These products integrate within the lip tissue and attract water, helping to create a soft, natural result while improving overall lip quality.
Following the guidance below will support safe healing and optimise your outcome.
What to Expect After Treatment
It is normal to experience:
• Swelling
• Tenderness
• Redness at injection points
• Bruising
• Temporary firmness or small lumps
Swelling in the lips is often more noticeable than other areas and typically:
• Peaks at 24 to 48 hours
• Gradually improves over 3 to 7 days
The lips may feel uneven or slightly overfilled initially. This is expected and will settle as swelling reduces.
Local Anaesthetic Effects
A topical numbing cream is usually applied before treatment to improve comfort.
Both Teoxane Kiss® and Mesoestetic Lips® also contain lidocaine, a local anaesthetic within the filler itself.
This means:
• Your lips may feel numb or “heavy” for several hours after treatment
• This effect typically lasts 2 to 6 hours, occasionally slightly longer
As the lidocaine disperses into surrounding tissues, normal sensation will gradually return.
The First 24 Hours
Please:
✓ Avoid touching or pressing the lips unnecessarily
✓ Keep the area clean
✓ Stay well hydrated
✓ Sleep with your head slightly elevated
Avoid:
• Makeup on the lips for 12 to 24 hours
• Alcohol
• Exercise
• Heat exposure (hot drinks, saunas, steam)
• Smoking where possible
A clean cooling pack (wrapped, not applied directly) can help reduce swelling.
Important Lip-Specific Advice
For the first 24 to 48 hours:
• Avoid excessive talking or animated facial movement
• Avoid kissing or pressure to the lips
• Avoid straws, vaping, or anything that compresses the lips
• Be cautious when eating to prevent accidental biting while numb
We place filler carefully within the vermilion border, which significantly reduces the risk of migration. However, excessive pressure early on can still affect how the product settles.
Skincare and Lip Care
For the first few days:
Recommended:
• Keep lips hydrated with a gentle balm
• Use SPF on the lips when outdoors
• Maintain gentle facial cleansing
Avoid for 5 to 7 days:
• Retinol or active skincare around the mouth
• Chemical exfoliation
• Facial massage or lip manipulation
Do not massage your lips unless specifically advised by your practitioner.
Activities to Avoid
For approximately one week, avoid:
• Saunas and steam rooms
• Swimming pools and hot tubs
• Dental treatment
• Facial treatments around the mouth
• High-intensity exercise during swelling
Bruising and Swelling
Bruising is common with lip treatments and typically resolves within 7 to 14 days.
To minimise this:
• Sleep slightly elevated
• Use gentle cooling
• Avoid unnecessary pressure
Important: When to Contact the Clinic Urgently
Complications are rare, but early recognition is critical.
Please contact Haus of Ästhetik immediately if you notice:
• Increasing or severe pain
• Areas of the lip becoming pale, white, grey, or mottled
• Significant asymmetry worsening rather than improving
• Blistering or skin breakdown
• Rapid swelling or unusual firmness
Do not wait if something feels unusual.
Results and Healing Timeline
You may notice:
• Immediate volume enhancement
• Swelling settling over 3 to 7 days
• Final results visible at around 2 weeks
Minor asymmetry early on is normal and usually resolves as swelling subsides.
A review appointment may be offered if any refinement is required.
Final Advice
Your lips will soften and settle naturally as the filler integrates with your tissues.
Allow time for healing, avoid unnecessary pressure, and resist the urge to “test” them in the mirror every five minutes. They will calm down, even if they currently look like they have made a bold life decision.
If you have any concerns during your recovery, please contact the clinic. We are always happy to help.
