Blood Test Aftercare Advice
Medichecks Testing at Haus of Ästhetik
Thank you for attending your blood test appointment today.
Your blood sample has been collected as part of diagnostic or health screening testing provided in partnership with Medichecks laboratories. Testing may include areas such as hormone health, nutrition, general wellbeing, metabolic health, fertility assessment, or medical monitoring.
Most patients experience no problems following blood collection. The advice below helps reduce bruising and ensures safe recovery.
What You May Experience After Your Blood Test
It is normal to experience:
- Mild tenderness at the sampling site
- A small bruise
- Slight swelling
- Minor spotting of blood after the procedure
These effects usually settle within a few days.
Some patients may feel briefly lightheaded following blood collection. This normally improves quickly with rest and hydration
Immediately After Your Blood Test
A dressing or plaster will usually be applied.
Please:
✓ Keep pressure applied for several minutes if advised
✓ Leave the plaster in place for at least 30 to 60 minutes
✓ Keep the area clean and dry initially
If bleeding occurs after leaving the clinic:
- Apply firm pressure for 5 minutes.
- Raise the arm if possible.
Bleeding should stop quickly.
Activity Advice
For the remainder of the day please avoid:
- Heavy lifting with the affected arm
- Strenuous exercise
- Repeated bending of the elbow immediately after venepuncture
This helps prevent bruising.
Normal daily activities can otherwise continue.
Bruising Prevention
Bruising occasionally occurs following blood tests.
Helpful advice includes:
- Avoid rubbing the area
- Keep pressure applied immediately after sampling
- Avoid heavy exercise shortly afterwards
Bruises normally fade within 5 to 10 days.
Finger-Prick (Capillary) Samples
If a finger sample was taken:
- Keep the finger clean
- Avoid squeezing or picking the site
- A small amount of tenderness may occur temporarily.
Hydration and Wellbeing
Drinking water after your test can help if you feel slightly lightheaded.
If fasting blood tests were performed, you may now return to normal eating unless otherwise advised.
Results and Follow Up
Your blood sample will be securely transferred to Medichecks accredited laboratories for analysis.
Results are typically available within several days depending on the test panel requested.
Results are usually provided:
- Directly through your Medichecks patient portal, and/or
- Reviewed with you by the clinic where appropriate.
If clinical follow up is required, this will be discussed with you.
When to Contact the Clinic
Please contact Haus of Ästhetik if you experience:
- Persistent bleeding
